What is the EU Ecolabel?
The EU Ecolabel (Regulation (EC) No 66/2010) is a voluntary scheme that recognises products and services meeting high environmental standards throughout their lifecycle — from raw material extraction through to production, use, and disposal.
Licences are awarded by national competent bodies and listed in the European Commission's ECAT database. Each licence covers one or more product groups and may include hundreds of individual SKUs.
Under the EU Green Claims Directive (proposed), substantiated environmental claims will need to meet stricter verification standards. EU Ecolabel certification provides a recognised basis for compliant green claims.
