Green Claims Directive

Under the proposed EU Green Claims Directive (COM/2023/166), enforcement of substantiation requirements will fall to national competent bodies — the same bodies responsible for administering EU Ecolabel licences in United Arab Emirates. Businesses holding or relying on EU Ecolabel certification issued in United Arab Emirates should monitor both licence status and national enforcement guidance as the Directive progresses through adoption.

Lapsed or incorrectly scoped EU Ecolabel claims are among the categories of unsubstantiated environmental claims the Directive is specifically designed to address.
