What is E-PRTR?

The European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) is the EU's public register of industrial facilities that must report their pollutant releases to air and water, as well as off-site waste transfers. It covers major industrial installations under the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED).

Facilities are required to report annually if they exceed reporting thresholds for specific pollutants or waste quantities. The dataset covers energy, manufacturing, waste management, agriculture, and other heavy industrial sectors across all EU member states.

This directory covers 67,465 facilities reporting from 2007 to 2024, sourced from the European Environment Agency. Note that the United Kingdom is included in this dataset for reporting years up to 2020, covering its period of EU membership.
