Question
The German version of the guidelines on reporting for financial stability purposes repeatedly (e.g. in Guideline 12 on QRT S.02.01.02 and S.25.04.13) state the following:
“…only when method 2 as defined in Article 233 of Solvency II Directive is used, either exclusively or in combination with method 1 as defined in Article 230 of the Solvency II Directive...”
The German translation therefore differs from the English version which states:
“…only when method 1 as defined in Article 230 of Solvency II Directive is used, either exclusively or in combination with method 2 as defined in Article 233 of the Solvency II Directive”
The English version corresponds to the description regarding S.02.01.02 in Art. 23 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/2450. Are we therefore correct in assuming that the German translation is wrong and the English version should be decisive?
Answer
In this case, please use the English version.
