Question

The EBA Validation Rule v10667_m applicable to the templates C.08.01 and C.08.02 COREP templates states that the Exposure-weighted average maturity value (days) of C.08.01 (column 250) of the row 70 (Exposures assigned to obligor grades or pools) multiplied by the total of the column 110 of C.08.02 (Exposure value) must be equal to the sum of the Exposure-weighted average maturity value (days) of C.08.02 (column 250) multiplied by the sum of the Exposure value of C.08.02 (column 110).

Background

The EBA VR v10667_m states that the Exposure-weighted average maturity value (days) of C.08.01 (column 250) of the row 70 (Exposures assigned to obligor grades or pools) multiplied by the total of the column 110 of C.08.02 (Exposure value) must be equal to the sum of the Exposure-weighted average maturity value (days) of C.08.02 (column 250) multiplied by the sum of the Exposure value of C.08.02 (column 110). Therefore, the goal is to obtain the sum of the Exposure value multiplied by the maturity value of each obligor grade in two different ways: - 1st: Using the {row 70; column 250} of C.08.01 and column 110 of C.08.02 - 2nd: Using the columns 110 and 250 of C.08.02 To compute this amount using the columns 110 and 250 of C.08.02, the product of these two columns should be done by obligor grade and only then these products should be summed. Nevertheless, the rule sums the columns 110 and 250 separately and then multiplies them by each other, which does not correspond to the expected value. Given this, should this control be applicable? Additionaly, should the column 250 of the C.08.01 and C.08.02 be reported as integers or decimals? Even correcting the current EBA VR formula, if the number of decimal places is too low, the rule can be triggered.
