About this tool

BaFin (Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht) is Germany's federal financial supervisory authority. Its public company database lists all institutions authorised to operate in Germany, including investment firms, credit institutions, and payment service providers. This tool queries that database directly and presents the results in a readable format.

Institution IDs can be found via the BaFin portal search. Results are cached for 24 hours — BaFin authorisation data changes infrequently, so live re-fetching on every request is unnecessary.
